African Youth Nuclear Summit 2023 (AYNS 2023) will bring together top industry leaders, government officials, young professionals, academics, and experts from around the African continent and beyond to discuss the latest advancements in the African nuclear science and technology sphere. It is a unique opportunity for young professionals in the nuclear industry to come together, learn from experts, and shape the future of nuclear industry in Africa. This summit will provide a platform for participants to share their knowledge and ideas, and to collaborate on strategies for promoting the responsible use of nuclear energy in Africa.
AYNS 2023 theme will explore the potential and promise of nuclear science and technology for economic sustainability, reliable and low carbon electricity generation for the future. The theme also intends to demonstrate that challenges associated with nuclear science and technology can be overcome through continued innovation, collaboration and dialogue among stakeholders in the nuclear industry and beyond.
To promote knowledge sharing and networking among young professionals and experts in the African nuclear industry.
To inspire and empower young people to pursue careers in the nuclear industry, and to promote gender and diversity inclusion in this field.
To Foster a dialogue on the latest developments and innovations in nuclear science and technology, including advancements in nuclear power generation on the African continent.
To explore opportunities for international cooperation on nuclear energy, and discuss the role of nuclear energy in addressing energy challenges, climate change and other related issues in Africa.
Provide a forum for young professionals to network and build relationships with their peers and industry leaders.
To strengthen the partnerships and collaborations among African countries and international organizations in the nuclear sector.
In 2021, the Africa4Nuclear Competition was a success with three teams from Nigeria, Tanzania and Sudan making it to the final stage of the contest, which was held at the AYNS 2021 in Accra, Ghana. The wining team, #TeamGEO from Tanzania represented the African YGN in the international I4N competition at the IYNC2022 in Japan. The team performed wonderfully finishing second closely behind their European counterparts. The theme of the competition was ‘Effective Communication of Nuclear Science and Technology to the Public’.

The idea is to encourage and challenge students and young professionals in Africa to be innovative and take charge in creating solutions to the numerous problems in their localities. The Competition will reward innovative ideas focused on the application of nuclear science & technology that will contribute in making the African continent better.
Presentation (/6): Clarity, Interactivity, Presentation organization, Interaction with Audience and jury, Timing and Capability of answering questions.
Innovation contribution (/4): Forward Thinking, Creativeness, Resolution of current problems and limitations
Applicability of idea (/6): Possibility of bringing the idea to effective action by using various resources in an undefined timescale, Business plan proposal, Individuation of possible stakeholder interests, Depth of research, Quality of arguments and analyses
Contribution to sustainability (/4): Contribution of the innovation to the sustainable development goals (SDGs) as described by the UN.
Public vote (+2): Additional points will be given to the team that earns the maximum number of vote from the audience.
